Hi! Thanks for visiting my period page! This page offers empowering information and encourages people to listen to their body and give themselves grace. The health education system and my community failed to give me the knowledge to be empowered by and thrive through my cycle. One fact that's changed my approach to my daily life is that menstruating humans have follicular, ovulation, luteal, and menstruation cylce that put them on an infradian rhythm, not a 24 hr circadian rhythm that capitalism functions on. Now I work with my body, not against it! I aim to share resources that may empower you and yours to do the same!
DISCLAIMER: This is based on over a decade of experience with menstruating on an average 25-28 day cycle and research on an undergraduate degree level. We operate in a society in which menstruation is not taught accurately, inclusively, or affirmingly. Please proceed with that in mind that this page is intended to be a resource garden for folx looking to learn more.
I followed Stevie Boebi on Youtube in 2015! This video changed my approach to my period and it may do the same for you! She makes videos about LGBT issues and lesbian sex education, and is the founder of Boebi Productions.
Many pads and tampons contain chemicals that cause irritation or inflamation to make people bleed more so that they buy more. Welp, that's captialism for you! Now that you know that, here's a list I put together of some safer menstrual products!
Looking to do some research on your own or look further into my work? Here's some great resources!
My uterus has taken me through hell and back. Here's what I did when my doctors failed me!
Heard of these practices but never knew how to get more information? This is for you!
First I want to say, I did not create this page for cis people. I am tired of trans and nonbinary people being an "afterthought" to menstruation health. Want to learn how to empower historically excluded folks?
Here I will present research that I began in 2018!
Is my blood the right color? Mood swings, cramping? What's going on with my hormones?!? Should I exercise? This tab is for you!
Your follicular, ovulation, luteal, and menstruation phase all happens while the moon travels in and out of it's New Moon, First Quarter, Full Moon, and Last Quarter phases! It's some powerful stuff!
I came across Stevie Boebi’s video in 2015 and it was a game changer! There’s incredible information on what tampons are really made of, all-gender menstrual cups, and an amazing app called Clue which I’ve used since 2016!

She puts the power back in your hands to make smarter, more informed choices about your health and your hormones.IT'S EVERYTHING YOUR DOCTOR NEVER TOLD YOU!

Out of the 100 million women—almost 11 million in the United States alone—who are on the pill, roughly 60 percent take it for non-contraceptive reasons like painful periods, endometriosis, PCOS, and acne. While the birth control pill is widely prescribed as a quick-fix solution to a variety of women’s health conditions, taking it can also result in other more serious and dangerous health consequences. Did you know that women on the pill are more likely to be prescribed an anti-depressant? That they are at significantly increased risk for autoimmune disease, heart attack, thyroid and adrenal disorders, and even breast and cervical cancer? That the pill can even cause vaginal dryness, unexplained hair loss, flagging libido, extreme fatigue, and chronic infection? As if women didn’t have enough to worry about, that little pill we’re taking to manage our symptoms is only making things worse.
Jolene Brighten, ND, author of the groundbreaking new book BEYOND THE PILL, specializes in treating women’s hormone imbalances caused by the pill and shares her proven 30-day program designed to reverse the myriad of symptoms women experience every day—whether you choose to stay on the pill or not. The first book of its kind to target the birth control pill and the scientifically-proven symptoms associated with taking it, BEYOND THE PILL is an actionable plan for taking control, and will help readers:
• Locate the root cause of their hormonal issues, like estrogen dominance, low testosterone, and low progesterone
• Discover a pain-free, manageable period free of cramps, acne, stress, or PMS without the harmful side effects that come with the pill
• Detox the liver, support the adrenals and thyroid, heal the gut, reverse metabolic mayhem, boost fertility, and enhance mood
• Transition into a nutrition and supplement program, with more than 30 hormone-balancing recipes
Featuring simple diet and lifestyle interventions, BEYOND THE PILL is the first step to reversing the risky side effects of the pill, finally finding hormonal health, and getting your badass self back.
My periods left me bedridden for 3 days a month. I would cry in pain and was unable to move. It wasn’t until a caring friend made me Zazie Beetz period tea blend that my period experience improved significantly. It was as if my torture had ended and that the skies opened up on a part of my life that the storm had held hostage for so long. I mean the relief was almost instant.
In anticipation of my distress returning, I also added Moringa, DIM, SeaMoss, BlackSeed Oil, Iron, and Magnesium in my rotation of vitamins that I take. I take a DIM supplement daily, and aim to take the other supplements (iron, magnesium, black seed oil) about 3 times a week. I make a raspberry leaf tea blend 1 day before and during ovulation, because I experience mittelschmerz.
I then make Zazie's period tea blend 3 days before my period to begin and every day during my period. It has helped me cut down the duration from 7 days to about 4 in only 3 months! Also, I experienced my cycle shorten and experienced less pain after using organic disposal products.
Hormonal acne is annoying, fustrating, and PAINFUL. Since I was 12, I experienced deep cystic acne that would flare up around ovulation or my periods and didn't know why. After researching, I discovered that it had something to do with my dairy intake and the way my body was metabolizing estrogen. Ever since I've cut out dairy completely it has made a big difference for me.
That first day, pain feels like dying a slow death. I know the feeling!!!! I had that pain for 4 days straight. Since 2016, I began noticing that I not only had lower back pain and lower abdominal pain, but also muscle stiffness and soreness, and my joints did not feel as loose or free.
For movement to release tight hips I did these stretches:
I did these stretches for as long and as slow as I needed and went as far as my body allowed! I also do not practice inversions on my period!
As my hormone levels dropped I was more sensitive to smell and more in tune with my emotions. When someone is on their period, that is the time that the two hemispheres of their brain are the most connected! It is the time to really trust what you are feeling. To help relax I drink ashwaganda and chamomile tea.
The days leading up to menstruation are the days where the person's total daily energy expenditure is the highest. That means, hunger is likely to increase! When this happens for me, I eat!
I have gender dysphoria and no article of clothing ever makes it go away. But when I wore the Thinx Boyshorts I felt freer. I'm excited to share this resource with menstruating humans! I hope this helps!
This is a project that will launch in two iterations! Sign up to be notified when part 2 is live! Part 2 will include: Yoni Steams, STI's, UTI's, Herpes, Womb Cleansing and More!
